Destiny Stars

After a meteor impact causes rapid mutations in Spain's flora and fauna, Sirius and his family seek refuge in Berlin, whilst gaining extraordinary light-based "animal powers." Tragedy strikes when Sirius loses his father and becomes a hunted "star bearer" in a poor Berlin neighborhood. Sirius and his mother start to have a complicated and tough relationship and as he gets older he meets his street art friends Chloe, Mihai and Tobi with whom he tries to revolutionize the street art world of Berlin.

Their peaceful life gets annihilated when Sirius and his friends see a brightly shining meteor in the skyline of berlin which eradicates everything that was important to them and as soon as Sirius finds out that this meteor was brought down to earth by humans intentionally, he decides to use the powers he gained to embark on a revenge driven journey with his friends to find the person responsibile.

Our Process

How it happened

Destiny Stars started as an idea of an animation student in Germany and very quickly attracted media interested people who added their own passion to it. This indie animation project was made possible by a shift in the medium of 3D animation: movies were appearing on the big screen and series were being released on streaming services that incorporated 2D elements and Stylized elements into the medium. Now there was an opportunity, an opportunity we were ready to take.

The small team of a few friends gathered many more people to take part in this animation project and are now using their passion for their own craft to make Destiny Stars something special.

The Beginning

Having a first draft of the idea may be the first step, but the prologue of our story is much longer. With our new team members, we started to do the first character sketches and wrote a first draft of the script for the pilot episode. At the same time, we started casting German voice actors. Our decision to do the original dub in German came from the fact that we felt that the unique features of the German language and culture would offer new artistic perspectives and situations in other dubs as well.

When the first scene was storyboarded, we knew we were working on something special. Something that could change our lives.

Hard work

Since we were nonfunded from the beginning, we all worked on the project and simultaniously on our personal lives. We are students, employees and freelancers, but still we managed to build an animation studio from scratch. We were working on many things at the same time. The storyboard was being worked on while the script was being finalized. The color scripts were following the pace, the storyboard was being made, and our composers and musicians were already creating amazing OSTs.

On some occasions, we couldn't do some things without money and had to pay for them out of our own pockets. This included licenses, new equipment, and more.
